Photographer Alireza Husseini in conversation with author and film director Nina Grünfeld about the project I Was There.
In I Was There, Husseini juxtaposes historical photographs from the Second World War with his own contemporary images of the same locations today. The project is the result of years of travel and research.

What does it mean to say I Was There? With this title, Husseini invites the audience to reflect on the relationship between past actions and today’s society, and on how the choices we make now will shape the future. Through the project, Husseini seeks to warn against fascist identity thinking and the repetition of history.
In conversation with Nina Grünfeld, Husseini will speak about his travels, artistic practice, and methods, as well as what it means to connect personal experience to broader historical and political issues.
