The Symmetry og Sleep
Petter Solberg lives and works in Oslo and works with, among other things, sculpture, painting, poetry, and animation. Solberg's work emerges in a playful and ambivalent process, where the work moves between different media and materials, and different ideas and narrative possibilities are explored—often starting from various aspects of contemporary culture and society expressed through fictional narrative frameworks. Through an intuitive process, the forms gradually emerge from the darkness. Rather than directing the drawing toward a specific idea, the artist tries to follow it wherever it wants to go. The title refers to how random dreams can contain underlying patterns and intentions, and how the symmetric starting points of the motifs gradually become distorted. After completing his master's degree at Edinburgh College of Art in 2010, Solberg has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Norway and internationally, as well as artist residencies in Norway, Denmark, and Germany.
