Close Readings: Dying Livingly

As the light slowly returns, we pick up our Close Readings, the no-preparation-needed monthly reading group at UKS. This month’s reading comes from Staci Bu Shea’s 2024 publication Solution 305: Dying Livingly, a collection of short essays about Bu Shea’s holistic-deathcare research and practice. We will focus on two short-ish consecutive chapters, ‘Reports From a Sunset’ and ‘A Working Community of the Unalike’, getting as far as we manage.

The book is available for sale online and we are working on selling it at UKS too. The excerpts have kindly been made available by the author and can be found at our website

19 February. You can read it in advance, but do feel very welcome to come unprepared. These are short and often autobiographical texts – with a storytelling style.
